{"id":601,"date":"2015-11-10T17:16:08","date_gmt":"2015-11-10T10:16:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.absoluteresorts.com\/our-stories\/?p=601"},"modified":"2015-11-10T17:16:08","modified_gmt":"2015-11-10T10:16:08","slug":"new-phuket-entertainment-zones-under-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.absoluteresorts.com\/our-stories\/new-phuket-entertainment-zones-under-review\/","title":{"rendered":"New Phuket entertainment zones under review"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"stcpDiv\">\n<div id=\"stcpDiv\">The Phuket Provincial Office is looking into expanding the current two entertainment zones in Phuket and the possibility creating new zones where businesses may trade until 4am.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><a href=\"https:\/\/www.absoluteresorts.com\/our-stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/patong3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-602\" src=\"https:\/\/www.absoluteresorts.com\/our-stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/patong3.jpg\" alt=\"patong3\" width=\"800\" height=\"436\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.absoluteresorts.com\/our-stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/patong3.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.absoluteresorts.com\/our-stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/patong3-300x164.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div id=\"stcpDiv\">\n<p>The news follows the latest formal request filed by President of the Patong Entertainment Association (PEBA), Weerawit Kuresombat, who for years has petitioned the government to broaden the rules governing Phuket\u2019s entertainment industry.<\/p>\n<p>His latest request called on the Ministry of Interior to consider expanding the entertainment zones at Bangla Road in Patong and along Taina Road in Karon, as well as consider new zones elsewhere on the island.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI asked for the government to consider including Soi Sansabai and a small street off Soi Sensabai, in the Patong entertainment zone, and to consider allowing businesses in entertainment zones to close at am,\u201d Mr Weerawit said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI also asked for bars and clubs at the Patong OTOP area to be allowed to register as night entertainment venues, and for the southern end of Phang Muang Sai Kor Road to be declared its own entertainment zone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pakpoom Intarasuwan, Provincial Office Chief Administrative Officer (Palad), told <em>The Phuket News<\/em> this week that the three District Chiefs in Phuket have all been asked to collate information about the likely possible sites for entertainment zones in their areas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will meet next week to discuss what they have to report,\u201d Mr Pakpoom said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, any new or expanded areas must be designated in accordance with existing law, and for example will not be allowed near schools, temples and hospitals,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Phuket Provincial Office is looking into expanding the current two entertainment zones in Phuket and the possibility creating new zones where businesses may trade until 4am.
