The only restaurant in the Phuket or Phang Nga region to score a gong in the second Thai Michelin foodie guide.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.absoluteresorts.com\/our-stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DJ1sCRmWAAEJmVU.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1626\" src=\"https:\/\/www.absoluteresorts.com\/our-stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DJ1sCRmWAAEJmVU.jpg\" alt=\"DJ1sCRmWAAEJmVU\" width=\"1000\" height=\"612\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.absoluteresorts.com\/our-stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DJ1sCRmWAAEJmVU.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.absoluteresorts.com\/our-stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DJ1sCRmWAAEJmVU-300x184.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Montara Hospitality\u2019s farm-to-table restaurant <em>Pru<\/em> at Trisara has earned a Michelin star.<\/p>\n<p>The guide whas expanded this year to cover the best dining venues in southern Phuket and Phang Nga provinces and in the greater Bangkok region -the cities of Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon and Samut Prakan.<\/p>\n<p><em>Pru<\/em> chef de cuisine Jim Ophorst is touted as an inspiring voice of change for elevating the farm-to-table movement in Thailand.<\/p>\n<p>29 year old Ophorst is originally from the Netherlands and renowned for his imaginative cooking style and innovative techniques. In 2016 he joined Montara\u2019s Trisara, where his raw talent and conviction inspired the conception of <em>Pru<\/em>. He was also twice a semi-finalist for S Pellegrino\u2019s annual Young Chefs Award, in 2016 and 2017.<\/p>\n<p><em>Pru\u2019s<\/em> culinary concept, \u201cPlant, Raise, Understand\u201d, stems from Ophorst and his team\u2019s close relationship with local suppliers and farmers, as well as the opportunities to forage and discover new ingredients from the restaurant\u2019s own farm, <em>Pru Jamp<\/em>a.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The farm sits among beautiful lakes on whose banks herbs, organic vegetable gardens, free-range chickens and ducks are raised.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m excited to discover new ingredients all the time because it pushes my creative boundaries,\u201d says the chef.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also want to strengthen the local farm community. This will yield better ingredients for better dishes at <em>Pru<\/em>.
