Etihad to help promote Thai tourism

Etihad Airways has agreed to promote tourism to Thailand as part of a major new marketing deal.
The Abu Dhabi-based airline penned a US$1.25 million agreement with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) this week, to promote the country in key international markets. These include the UAE, UK, Ireland, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, South Africa, Iran and Kuwait.

HK Express takes flight in Phuket market

Hong Kong’s low-fare airline has seen significant first-quarter growth as it continues its campaign to woo both the Thai and expat markets in Phuket.

HK Express has carried close to 500,000 passengers in the first quarter of this year, which represents a 102 percent growth compared with the same period in 2014. The airline reports total passengers for March of 168,336, an increase of 96 percent over the same month last year.

Eurowings to bring rock-bottom airfares to Thailand

Lufthansa‘s new low-cost carrier, Eurowings, will commence long-haul operations in fourth quarter of 2015 with flights to Thailand, the Caribbean and Middle East.
Ticket sales have now opened for the flights, which will depart Germany’s Cologne/Bonn Airport on 25 October 2015. Based on Lufthansa’s Germanwings concept, Eurowings will be positioned as a low-cost carrier offering point-to-point flights on short-, medium- and long-haul routes.

Thai VietJet to launch scheduled flights in March

Thai VietJet Air will launch its first ever scheduled flights in March 2015, it has been confirmed. The new low-cost venture  will commence flights between Bangkok and Phuket on March 29th.
The carrier, which is based at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport, started operating charter services in late 2014 but has been waiting to launch its regular scheduled flights.
